Danielle (Dee) Colucci

Hello and WELCOME to my site!

Who am I?  Well, I am a bold and colorful person who is able to translate that into my artwork. I am a bit of an "eclectic" and I believe my art reflects that with its diversity.  As you peruse my work you will see styles of Expressionism, Impressionism, Abstract, and Pop Art.

I have been working consistently the past two years and have created over 150 pieces of work that I am quite proud of. Being a mother of a 10 and 12 year old and working in this industry can be quite challenging but it’s what I love to do and what I feel I am MEANT to do so...here I am.  My latest series is in acrylic and the style marries fluid edging with pointillism to create something I call 'Static"!

I've been working the art circuit over this past few years and have thoroughly enjoyed meeting other artists and building my audience.

WHY I PAINT:

I’m a firm believer that art is healing for the soul and a true way to connect with the world. On the creative end I feel art (all forms) allows us to lose ourselves amidst all the madness of life so that we can regroup and think things through more clearly.

And on the social end I feel that we have become so disconnected from one another for various reasons that going to art galleries, plays, concerts, etc.,  brings us closer to one another…we communicate and reconnect and that is so healing.

This way of thinking is what brought about my idea for “Static”. Static is that white noise that we have put between each other and the world that we can no longer see one another or the world clearly. I know we all feel that in this day and age and because we cant rid ourselves of it immediately I created “static” as a way of seeing the beauty in the world THROUGH the noise. A sort of guide to bring us out of the fog.

WHAT INSPIRES ME:

PHILANTHROPY INSPIRES ME!!! I love the idea of having art (my own and other artists) be utilized to help non-profits raise much needed funds! I get excited at the prospect of my artwork going past the point of being just "pretty things" and have it become something that represent positive change in my community.

Creating art that removes racial stigma also moves me. I paint many women as they are the bearers of life. I paint all races and I paint them in either grey or black/white. I do this for a reason…so that we are able to look past color and see the beautiful features of all ethnicities. Take a deeper look at the differences in the shapes of our eyes, noses, mouths, hair and body structure and realize just how amazing our differences are. Really look at one another so that we can embrace each other’s differences as opposed to creating barriers with them.

WHAT DRIVES ME TO KEEP AT IT:

My babies...my kids are funny, smart, sweet, sincere, have amazing manners and are respectful.  They are just beautiful people inside and out and I don't just love them...I LIKE them! I like who they are becoming and that means so much!  :)

Warmly,

Dee
